XL426 Visit the Vulcan

XL426, the Vulcan aircraft at London Southend Airport, will be welcoming visitors and scouting group visits.

The Vulcan Restoration Trust is a registered charity and the experienced volunteer team keep the aircraft in a tip top ground-running state at the airport. They will be ready to answer all those questions Beavers, Cubs and Scouts may have on this giant bomber which they keep in superb condition.

The plan is to have work books avable for the Beaver, Cub or Scouts to compleat the staged air activiys badge. There will be a camp blanket badge available to commemorate their visit.

  • climb up to see into the cockpit (small extra charge)
  • see how the pilots, navigators and air electronics officer would have worked
  • experience the sights, sounds and smells of one of the most famous jet aircraft ever built
  • meet the Vulcan team, who are keeping the aircraft in running condition
  • be in the Vulcan power-up of the aircraft systems
  • buy unique souvenirs
  • become a member of the Vulcan Restoration Trust
  • Other stalls and activitys will be there

The Vulcan Restoration Trust is a registered charity. They depend on fundraising events such as these, asking the public for a small donation in return for getting to see the Vulcan up close for themselves. The donations help to pay for the vital engineering work needed.
